Turtle Rock is a rock in the middle of Black Pond, which is nestled on the western banks of the Potomac River on the Virginia side.

Legend has it that the sprawling underwater mass is the remains of an old sea turtle who made its way from the Atlantic Ocean, through the Chesapeake Bay and up the Potomac River, choosing for its final resting place a protected nook with a nice view of the sunset.

When you stand on Turtle Rock, it feels like you are standing on the water itself.
